Fraudaulent transactions..

FYI..

My bank called me about some out of country company, that made a test transaction on my account.

Basically, they don't pull the money they just test if their are funds in the account. My bank says that there were several members that reported that transaction as fraud so they gave me a call and sure enough I couldn't find the matching receipt in emails for the transaction. Just a heads up!

I never heard of such a thing. By bank has called me when I've purchased some apps from foreign countries but testing my account? That just doesn't sound right to me. What business do they have going in there and testing your account, it doesn't make sense. I'm with Chase what bank are you with?

Well, my FCU pays close attention to transactions through their customer's account, where it comes from etc. They notice I do pay for a lot of apps through Google, but this particular transaction was suspicious to them and because there were numerous reports from other members of it being fraudulent.

I was thinking it was just a vendor testing the account as well, but hey, Android Market is a whole new money making opportunity for developers as well as scammers.

It's annoying but I look at it as "better safe than sorry".

I know it was really suspicious to me as well, I had to deal with fraudulent transactions through Paypal before and it was a hassle going through it.

Credit Unions are a whole different ball game then banks. I use to work at Citi so I'm familiar with some bank procedures, and I'm also a bit familiar with the way Credit Unions will do things. Credit Unions will go the extra mile.

Yeah, can't complain though. Just thought people should know, dealing with fraud is a biotch.

Every time you pay a restaurant check with a credit card, they run a test because they don't know the exact amount to charge until you add the tip and they want to be sure you can cover the base check before they accept the card.

Unless this was for one of those obscenely priced Co-Pilot nav apps, I can't see them pinging for a buck and a half transaction.
