Forgive my stupity

First off I know there are a lot of gingerbread things out thier and that this is probably in the wong place. Next please forgive me for what some may think is a stupid question. I recently in the last month or so received my sytem update 2.3.20 and now hear so much about gingerbread 2.3 and wanted to know if this is the same thing and if not what is it?

2.3.20 is a Verizon update. Gingerbread has not been released.

Your update that you are speaking about is still Android "version" 2.2.1, while Gingerbread will be Android version 2.3

You can verify your version info in settings.... About Phone
