Okay, since having my Droid for 3 days and spending tons of time here I've already got some favorite apps, I haven't gotten into the paid ones yet but for freebies so far I really like:
Dolphin - getting used to using gestures and saving photos and videos is cool.
ShopSavvy - can really see the use in this, and figured how to get rid of that annoying beep! (It's an option right on the screen where you do the scan!)
Pandora - seems to know what I like and there's an option for high quality music too.
Shazam - used it for the first time this morning, it's 5 for 5 for identifying songs so far :)
Advanced Task Killer (free) - makes me happy I know I'm killing apps I'm not using.
Key Ring - whoa, cool app so you don't have to carry around all those UPC tabs on your key rings for different stores like Stop and Shop etc, seems like every store has one now. This you just photo the store card's barcode and it can be displayed so when you're at the store you just hold out the phone to be scanned by the cashier!
Google Sky - I used this last night and was floored by it's accuracy, I really geeked out with this.
Robo Defense - played lots of games like this on pc while killing time, first try after install I beat it with 4 lives left, but it's so much fun I can see myself playing it over and over, esp with all the different maps, great time killer.
Droid Armory - World of Warcraft app ftw!
Handscent - sms messaging - idk, I don't text a lot so I haven't found so many advantages over the built in one but everyone seems to like it so I'm trying it out. Seems quite customizable and it works.
The Weather Channel - eh, look outside, I'll be geeking on it when there's storms coming I suppose.
Am I missing anything really cool or helpful???

Please help?

That's right...list 'em ALL! I noticed from the "top 5 apps" thread that everyone pretty much had the same apps listed, give or take 10 or so. So here is your chance to list ALL your apps. This might give us an idea that even if it isn't in your top 5 (maybe you don't use it a lot) someone else might...if it's not an obvious or popular app, list its function!

:icon_ banana:

- App Organizer (allows you to tag apps and create "folders" that you can see on my desktop, like Entertainment, etc)

Hi Matt! I like how you've organized your homescreen. I tried the App Organizer, but cannot get it like you have it. I assiged each app to the proper folder/icon, but they don't show up like you have them on the home screen. I have default icons there and not sure how to move/replace them? What am I doing wrong?

Probably because Matth3w is rooted. Is your phone stock? That's probably the difference. Anyway, welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome and reply! :) Ok....please pardon my ignorance, but what is rooted? My phone is a Motorola Droid, just purchased from Verizon. What does this mean? Thank you!

first off, the phone is rooted with bugless beast 1.2 and a chevyno1 kernel. ive overclocked to 1ghz. i plan on switching to a 2.1 rom within the week. im waiting for more positive reviews to boost my confidence. also, i recently did a system wipe, and only re-downloaded the apps i actually use. so heres a stripped-down list of somewhat essential apps i use:

home++ - i can not seem to get away from the power strip at the bottom. i love it.
beautiful widgets
battery left
sportstap - for scores
national football post - for sports news
newsrob - for sports news
thomson reuters news pro - for general news
touiteur - to keep up with some of my favorite athletes (and conan obrien)
ebuddy - to bs with friends on fb chat
bloo - my go to facebook client
google voice - a definite must. i hate listening to vmails
directv - record shows on dvr from your phone? nice!
setcpu - for overclocking
spare parts
quick settings - i like the inclusion of everything on one screen
terminal emulator - for what little tweaking i do
es file explorer - my go-to manager
barcode scanner - this thing comes in unbelievably handy at different stores
camera illusion - *a new download. i think this app may become my defaul camera app soon.
