Ford Sync

Anyone have a Ford that they are pairing with their Incredible? I use a Moto Droid, but my boss just got an Incredible and is having a strange issue. He has paired it with his Ford Sync and it works for placing calls, and playing music, but it won't give him directions. It always says it can't find the trucks location. It is a 2010 Ford F350, brand new. He can use Google maps on the phone and it finds his location with no problem if he is just using the phone away from the truck. If any one has any ideas I'd appreciate it, and I'll pass them on. Thanks!

I have a ford sync, no issues with the location but for some reason i cannot get every contact to download. It skips one or two only. Ironically the important ones.

I saw something about contact sync issues when I was helping my boss research his issue. There is a software update that is supposed to help. Can't remember the details since it wasn't what I was looking for, but you might want to search online and see if it might help your situation.

No Good

I just got my new HTC Incredible. So VERY disappointed it will not sync up with my Ford Sync system in my F150. Each time I try to sync it, it behaves totally differently. Typically, it get's hung up once I enter the 6 digit code in when connecting. Just keeps saying trying to connect...never even times out. Not sure if the problem is with the truck/Sync, or the phone, but am figuring the phone as the other 3 phones my family members have (all different brands) sync up without a hitch, including my old Blackberry Curve. Unless I find a resolution, will be returning the Incredible to Verizon.

Appreciate if anyone happens to have any step by step instructions.

Thx!

I got mine to work now. The big thing is that while setting it up you need to allow the bluetooth connection otherwise it will not connect. Additionally I had the issue with it downloading a lot of contacts that I did not want so what I did was go through line by line and ensure the contacts I want are in it. However once you get it set up you should be fine.

Hi! Yeah...I have bluetooth turned on, and it does initially connect (some times), but then it quickly drops after just a short time. It stays connected maybe 30 seconds, the disconnect. And then, no matter what you do, you cannot get it to reconnect. However, next time I get in the car it might (maybe) sync up and work for that trip, but it does not connect automatically. Then next trip...it might not work again. VEry inconsistent. Going to send the phone back while I still can.

Sigh...

Ok try this one last time. Delete your phone from the sync and sync from your blue tooth list

then go to setup on the phone
select wireless networks
check the bluetooth box
select bluetooth settings

on sync select connect and also tap the scan for devices on phone
type in pin number displayed
look for the notification in your notification bar that tells you it is trying to connect and determine if you "always" want to connect and then also select allow

it should then connect otherwise you may have a problem with your phone. I did have an issue with my moto droid and sync and it was a bluetooth issue

hope this helps

ok well i think the problem with the sync is that the incredible may have not been tested yet through SYNC. i know when the droid was out first there were some ppl having some troubles with it..... but....... is he using the dock in the window? or just holding it?

I still haven't had any issues at all with the Sync in my F150. Everything worked great from the first time I set it up. You guys must be doing something wrong.

Well...it was the darndest thing...went out the next a.m. to try some of these things, and the phone simply synced when I started my truck...just like my old blackberry always used to. So, I think (cross my fingers) I am ok for now.

Now, If I can just get the battery to last longer than half a day...

I have a 2010 Ford F-150. I recently synced my Droid 3 with my truck using a special pin. My phone calls are perfect and so is the audio when I use Pandora. My only issue is using the stock music app. The music will play but stop and than start again several times during a song. Any fixes for this. Im using the latest OTA update.

Not sure of a fix, but I had the exact same Bluetooth issues when I rented a Ford Edge bout a month ago. Handsfree phone was perfect, but music was very slow to start playing and was very choppy.

I switched to Songbird instead of the default player since then and it seems to play better over Bluetooth in my wife's Altima. You may want to give that a shot.

Overall, I was less than impressed with Sync. Like many things Microsoft, it took way too many clicks through menus and things to do simple things like change the climate control temperature or radio station. I'm sure I'd get used to it eventually, but it was dangerous to fiddle with while driving. I also found the steering wheel controls (with the 2 sets of directional arrows for the LCD dashboard) to be ridiculously tedious to go through the menus, as well. Hopefully the system in your F-150 is a bit less over the top.
