Fixed buttons on the bottom. How to get them to light up?

On my old Droid, I would need to turn the screen off and then back on to get the buttons on the bottom to light up.

With the Razr Maxx, that doesn't seem to work. Plus, they seem to be on randomly, and off randomly. Can anyone offer up what the deal is with them?

Thanks.

There's a sensor on the upper left corner, under Motorola, that determines if your key lights are on. They are not supposed to be on all the time.

Sounds defective ..
Shouldn't need a 3rd party app. They should be lit if your screen is on.

Cover the sensors that Sally posted about and see if they come on. The sensors are just down and to the left of the "Motorola" on the screen side.
