FB sync to contacts not working

This is my first smartphone so I may be an idiot and I'm just missing something here.

I click on a contact, then the link button in top right, then the "facebook for htc sense" option and then i select the facebook profile and it goes back to the sceen where i can press "facebook for htc sense" and i press done, but it doesn't think it.

If I do this about 20 times it finally links them. maybe i'm doing something wrong?

Have you had any revelations about this yet? I'm running into the same issues. My friend has the same phone with no problems.
