Facebook messages will not send

Hi Guys! I just got my new droid and I am still trying to figure it out. When I got the phone I entered my facebook info into the social networks icon, then I also downloaded the facebook app. All the sudden it will not let me send messages from my facebook widget or 'messages' icon. Please help! thanks!
