Extended Battery

You do realize that the %ages don't show the actual amount of battery being used. It just shows the % from the amount you've used. So saying today after blah blah blah time, your battery is at 0 and the blank is at blank % and the next day its at 40% and the black is at a different number is not a proper way to gauge the usage. You would have to do the exact same thing with the exact same network coverage with the exact same volume etc etc, to get a proper reading of battery usage.

Just my 2 cents.

While that is true, it gives a general idea of what is using the most power.

Yes I realize, it is not the % of actual battery capacity, but rather, the % of capacity that has been consumed.
This is why I need to do a full performance audit.

But needless to say, I'm getting horrible results from this thing.
And as stated earlier, it is a replacement phone and a brand new battery.

Okay, so is it normal that a 28 minute phone call just used 10% of my battery?
Keep in mind, everything is at absolutely minimal state. Bluetooth, GPS, Wifi all OFF. Screen at dimmest. No animations.
Is that normal? 10% for 28 minutes of conversation?

I just turned on my Wifi, spent about 8 minutes copying some files over from my server (local LAN) and then shut off my wifi. This was the only activity.
down another 10%.

Is this normal?

Just spend 2 minutes on the web looking up someone's phone number, sent them two text messages.
down another 10% now at 60%.

Yes. I would say that's accurate. Phone calls and display are the biggest drain.

Spoke to a Motorola supervisor (during which I drained another 10%) who essentially told me their policy does not allow them to send me a replacement.
Essentially, I was told to go **** myself.
I will be contacting the Dept. of Consumer Protection, Consumer Affairs, and BBB. This is tantamount to outright theft.
I also vow never to purchase any Motorola product ever again.

I am going to have to head back to the retailer and try to get a full refund. If they refuse, I'm going to have to get a phone that can actually last the day, and I'll stick this thing on eBay and let someone who wants a toy live with this kind of horrendous quality.

Ordinarily, my BT, GPS, WIFI are all OFF.

FWIW, if you have WiFi, I would use that - WiFi uses less battery and gives you a lot more bandwidth to boot.

Perhaps you live in an area with a bad signal? From home, settings->about phone->Status. What is the signal strength? Anything -100 dBm or less (meaning more negative) really makes the phone work hard to hold a signal.

Most of us were getting horrible battery life in the beginning. 6 hours max.
After the update though, my stock battery lasts 8,9 hours, and extended lasts 11,13 hours for me.
I have a 2850 mah battery that lasts 16+

I used wifi for data transfer on my LAN. I only used 3G for 2 minutes to get someone's phone number off the web.
Total 1 hour of talk, 8 minutes of file transfers on WiFi, 2 minutes of 3G browsing, 2 text messages. Battery cost in total: 40%
Sorry, but that's just absurd. It is laughable that anyone would be able to cope with this kind of performance. What are people doing, sitting at home using the phone while charging it?

Last week I went out around noon with a 90% charge. Talked about 1.5 hours, did a few text messages, listened to music for about 30 minutes, and that was IT. no web browsing, nothing else at all.
That day, from noon until about 5 PM, my phone went from 90% to 15%.
I cannot possibly live with this dismal performance. These things are supposed to IMPROVE over time, not get worse.

My Saga, Omnia, i760 - those guys would do everything I am doing with this phone, and I could go an entire day and still have like 30% or more remaining at 8:00 PM.
If the days of a decent, long lasting smartphone are gone, in favor of giving kids the ability to play angry birds and tweet their brains out on facebook, and stare at youtube all day, at the expense of being able to go a day without one or more additional charges, then it may be time I take a break from smartphones.
