ERROR: process com.google.android.email

I recently added an IMAP account to my DROID. Adding the account went fine.

When I try to open an email I get an error as follows: The application Email (process com.google.android.email) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. I have cleared the cache and reinstalled the account. No help.

My Gmail IMAP account works fine.
My IMAP account in Outlook, on my desktop, works fine.
Android Version 2.2.2

Help Please!

Try manage application>find gmail and sometimes the process is listed and clear all the data

I've done that! it does not work.

Just to add, All I have to do is open the ofending account folder and I get the error without even opening an email.

I recently encountered the same problem on my Samsung Galaxy S running 2.2. The previous poster's suggestion helped me to solve the problem. Here are the detailed steps:

1. Enter Applications.
2. Open Settings.
3. Open Applications
4. Open Manage Applications
5. Click the phone's Menu button.
6. Select Filter
7. Select the All option
8. Scroll down to the Email app and select it.
9. Click on Clear Cache
10. Click on Clear Data

This deleted all my email accounts. However, once I reconfigured the account that was giving me trouble, it was once again able to load new messages without the unexpected stop error.
