In this video, I'll be showing you how to turn the earpiece speaker on your Pixel XL into a second media playback speaker for true stereo sound.

You'll need to be rooted to try this out, but I've got a detailed guide at the full tutorial that makes rooting the Pixel XL super easy. On top of that, this mod will only work on the Pixel XL (not the regular Pixel), and it's only intended for use on Android 7.1.

But with a little work, you can fix one of the biggest gripes most people have with the new Pixel, and increase audio quality dramatically.

Do people really worry about that? How much separation can you get from two tiny speakers that are 1.5" apart and like an arm length away? You'd have to hold the tip of your nose against the phone between the speakers to hear the left and right channels separately.
