enable always on mobile data?

anyone know what this does? i would imagine this would help a lot with battery life. but would i continue getting push gmail through my gmail app?
would there be any issues with my weather and calendar syncing (set to every 4 hrs)?

nvm.. not helpful at all. left this setting off overnight and lost about 15% over 4 hours..
