Have you tried going to settings - accounts and click on whatever service you use for email to see if it is still set to sync? Are you using Gmail? Or the stock email app that came with the phone? On the stock app make sure you are indeed viewing the inbox and not elsewhere, press the sync button or lastly try another email client like K9 mail or something similar.
