The Nexus Player is a whole new approach to the living room take over by Google. Their latest creation has an option for a gaming pad, but for all that this device could be it is still not compatible with very many apps. Some apps that will work out of the box include apps like Evernote, Flipboard, tasker, mx player, plex, hulu, netflix, an assortment of game emulators and more. This device has plenty of potential, but to use this device to its fullest you may want to consider rooting it. Rooting the Nexus Player is as simple as choosing the option in a toolkit.
Developer "photonicgeek" has released an all in one toolkit that makes modding super easy on the Nexus Player. Features include Bootloader Lock and Unlock, device root, install twrp, backup and restore the device from your PC, easily flash zips and image files, factory reset your device, adb utilities, built in updater and more!
