E mail with gingerbread

I just received the new OTA software and it says that I can e-mail but what do I need to do to set up a e-mail account?

How did you email before you got Gingerbread? That shouldn't change.

I have never been able to email with my Droid x. I just thought with gingerbread it was something new.
