Duplicate text notification count

I'm not getting duplicate notifications, but when I have only 1 message the counter tells me I have 2. This didn't happen before the software update, but I can't say for certain if it has or hasn't been happening since right after the update - I noticed it on Monday. The only messaging app I've installed is Missed Call but I am using the default messaging program for notifications. Any ideas?

I have a problem with getting duplicate text messages, sometimes even 3-5 times in a row. My friend had the same issue when she was stock as well... I dunno if the two are related or not.
