Duplicate phone numbers when I text

When I go to contacts, tap on the thumbnail picture, and select text, I see two of the same numbers or every contact I have. But when I actually open up the entry, there is only one number.
What's causing this, anyone?

I'm curious too. I assume maybe because I'm synced with FB? It is kinda annoying.

You probably have double contacts 1 for google and 1 for phone...go to contact hit menu and unlink...then you'll be able to see the duplicates

This can probably handled easiest by going to gmail on line. Go to contacts and you'll see a find duplicates tool. It will eb easier to do it that way then using the phone.

I've tried it linked and unlinked. I have duplicates either way.
