Dropped my Droid, shattered screen!

Dropped my Droid, shattered screen! *Added Pics!*

No insurance of course. The phone still works fine, just a shattered screen. I did love my Droid, so I am contemplating getting a new one, or for a little less money go with the faster HTC incredible. I will miss the H/W keyboard though for Remote desktop session.

Any suggestions?

* Update, I have bought a used Droid on ebay while I try to have this one repaired by Motorola (can take weeks), I still need to try the old Verizon store $50 replacement thing. Hopefully in the end I have a 2nd Droid I can resell *

+1 :)
Why would you get a $500 phone, but no insurance?

i have a droid and no insurance.

if you're just careful then it's unnecessary, but what if "you never know what's going to happen". Don't worry, it was my money so no need to concern yourselves with my belongings.

if the phone still works, can't you just add insurance??? they just verify by calling your number and if you pick up, not sure if you have to purchase it within 30 days though

So I put a screen guard on top of the cracked screen and it works great and I no longer cut my finger on shards of glass. Ordered a used phone on ebay for about the price of a year of insurance plus the deductible.

I have had a bad experience with Insurance years ago on the Nextel phone, so I never bought it since. Basically they do not cover water damage, and my nextel was not water damaged, but they claimed it was so they would not replace it.

Actually no, it fell off my desk at work onto a plastic power supply. It was that simple, when I picked it up I assumed it would be fine like the other 1000 times it fell of my desk.

You screwed yourself if you bought another phone. Verizon has a new policy on cracked screens. If the phone still functions properly, they will give you a replacement for $50+tax. I had this happen to my Droid when my Zippo lighter fell on it and hit right at the speaker hole on the top of the screen. Spider cracks all the way down.. went to a Verizon store and walked out with a good as new Droid for no money(they let me add the cost to the bill). Think the total was 54 even.

No biggie, I can just resell the replacement, plus I have read mixed reviews with the $50 cracked screen policy. Some areas do not honor it.

You can also send a phone back to motorola for a few weeks for 75$ replacement glass. Needless to say, I will probably end up with 2 Droids in the end and sell one, I just do not want any down time :)

Phone works really well with the screen guard over the cracked glass :)

There is no longer a $50 replacement option. You will have to buy a new one at full retail, or buy a certified pre owned device for $280.

They implemented and discontinued a policy within the span of about half a year? That really sucks. Glad I got my breaking done during that time lol.
