I have a DriodX that was originally on the Verizon network. It is now ion the StraightTalk network. I was having texting issues and it was response got really slow and I was told that I need to update the OS to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.
Is there clear instructions that would able me to do this? And will the ICS 4.0 work on my phone?
How do I tell what OS is on my system? It has never been tampered with.
Thanks in advance

Who told you to upgrade? That phone was originally on gingerbread and Motorola abandoned it there. I don't believe they ever sent out an OTA update for that device that would bring it to ICS. In order to put ICS 4.0 on it they would have had to publish an update or you would have to root and install a ROM. In my opinion your messaging issues are not due to the device being on gingerbread.
