Droid X Volume

Oddly enough, I have an opposite problem from most on the driodX volume. My Bluetooth headset is WAY TOO LOUD. When I try to turn the volume down on the phone side buttons, it tells me "Playing through Bluetooth." I have a Motorolla S10-HD and the voume controls don't go down that low. On the DroidX, I have gone into "settings, sound, volume" and the "media" setting is all the way down.
Weird. Any ideas?

I can report exactly the same problem, with same headset on stock, liberty 1.5 and rubix
