Yep. The experts on the Moto forum are recommending to not disable a Hangouts right now. If you do...you get the error. If you don't want to use it don't use it and don't log in. But don't disable it right now.

No issues here. Hangouts has been disabled for quite some time.

Ha. No secrets that I know of. I cleared the cache and data in Hangouts and disabled the app. I haven't seen the error message since. Maybe just lucky.

I haven't had any issues with Hangouts being disabled, either. I disabled it probably over 6 months ago, though I usually clear data, then force stop before I uninstall/disable apps. Maybe the force stop before disabling makes a difference.

I just went into my disabled apps and unchecked notifications box and did force stop. When you do the force stop it says the app may misbehave if done.
Before I disable any apps I have been deleting the cache and data, though it has been giving the error msg. Maybe force stop and notify may help now... We'll see

This is a problem with a number of Google or "system" apps. It's integrated into the OS, so if/when you disable them, these types of errors can pop up from time to time. As iiWoodstock mentioned though, you should always clear cache, clear data, uncheck notifications box, force stop and then disable. (In that order) That usually works for most integrated apps such as this one.

That's what I do with bloat. Haven't had a problem with my disabled hangouts either.

What's with the new phone/ringer? I assume this is a Lollipop or recent Android upgrade, but I DO NOT like the interaction on it....seems like it's dropping the "answer call" into the notification area and a little wonky to see and answer or dismiss.

I mean, WTF Google? Why do you keep changing and screwing with the simplest and most basic function of the phone? Your dialer sucks now, too.

I love it. It floats a notification when your phone rings, not really in the notification tray.
This way it doesn't interrupt you when you're doing something.

I've had a couple issues answering it already. I don't know if it's lag or a bug, but I use this for business and forcing this POS mod on me is unacceptable.
