Droid - The Camera in your pocket!

Dr01d - I agree - those are beautiful! Somewhere on these forums I posted pix very similar. Forget where we had a thread going on winter snow scenes.

Ohio looks just like Jersey in the snow! ;) mikey

I have a Canon S5 Is that I used to carry with me all the time for work and other photos but since i got the Droid I find myself relying on the Canon less and less. Matter of fact the Droid made me realize how poor the quality of the photos the Canon takes are and I'll be sending it back for service with a complaint.
I post a lot of photos on the web and I really like that I can set the camera to auto upload to my Photobucket account.

Some shots from this winter...

As a camera, the Droid works quite well.

It's not a digital SLR, and won't have the quality, or the flexibility of say, even a Fuji S200FS... but, as a 5MP point and shoot? The Droid's camera works great. I have used it on a few occasions. I used to bring my camera bag with me all of the time, now, I just use the Droid for those "grab" shots if I come across something interesting.

Droid takes excellent pics outdoors and indoors in well lit situations. When its dark the camera quality is garbage even with the flash. Great pics to the folks who posted in this thread

My hobby is photography. The Droid really sux to be a five MPIX camera. If you want to take pictures just get a camera. Don't buy a Droid thinking it will get the job done. The secret to a good camera is the lens. Not how big the file is.

as a serious photographer, I am more impressed with the video capabilities than the still photo capabilities.

I'm pretty impressed with the Droid's video as well... yeah, the white balance flutters a bit indoors, but hey... it's still pretty damn good for what it is.

Here's my 6 year old drummer. Yeah, he just turned six 9 weeks ago... his third drum lesson.
Great video for a cellphone.

Cuskit where @ the shore are you?

I'm in the Vineland area between the two shores (Ocean & Bay)
SnoDrtRider,

I live in Monmouth County - my shop is three minutes from the Manasquan Inlet. Nice weather finds me jumping on my Cannondale Super Vee at lunch break and just minutes later I'm climbing the rocks of the North Jetty that guards the mouth of the Inlet. A good hour and twenty minute ride north of you...

I used to race motocross - we had a track down your way. Millville, on the Cumberland County Fairgrounds. The track was on the infield. Are you old enough to remember that one? I won the State Championship there for the Open Class three years running.

No such thing as cell phones back in the day.. :) mikey

My hobby is photography as well... You are right, it is the lens that makes the camera... BUT, for a quick, "I need it now" grab shot, it takes a decent photo, with reasonable color depth, forcus, and what not. It's worthless in low light, or at night, but, during the day, or in a well lit room, it's does an acceptable job.

What exactly is this video? I'm not sure if I should be saddened or going "Awwwww"

I volunteer for a foundation that rescues and rehabs sick and injured marine mammals and sea turtles. This was a gray seal pup that I went to evaluate. He was fine and eventually went back in the water and swam away. The Droid has been a great tool for me as i can get photos video and GPS info, send everything back to "HQ" and consult with a biologist and assess the animal's health and decide whether or not we are going to take it in for a physical.
