Droid Texting problem...

Hi! I have had my Droid for about 7 months now and have loved it. But a couple of days ago I began having problems when texting. I can text the first word of a message then it stops letting me text. If I go back out and then reopen the text I was working in, it will let me finish. But, this is annoying. Can anyone please help me. Thank you!

Try clearing the data and cache to the app.

Settings --> apps --> "whatever text app you use"

I believe doing so will erase your messages, so if you want to save them for whatever reason, I recommend you back them up. For backing up I use SMSBackup+

Thanks, but I tried and that did not work. Any other suggestions?

Try a 3rd party texting app and see if the problem persists in that app. If so, then the only thing I can think of is a factory reset...

I guess unless I find a solution on here I am going to have to take it to Verizon. Just hate doing that because I don't have the time! But, I gotta have my texting ability. :(

My son took my Droid into Verizon and they downloaded an app called Key Board from Android that they said should fix it. Takes a very long time to download. If that does not work, they said to dial *611 and they would order me a new phone. I will let you know if this works. :)

Okay. Spoke with the Verizon rep. The problem apparently is due to the word recognition function, which I hate anyway. So, here is what you need to do to fix this problem. 1 - Go into settings. 2 - click on language and keyboard settings. 3 - Scroll down until you get to next word prediction, and unclick this. That fixed mine :)

It worked...

Thanks much. I had this problem in the summer and ended up going through Verizon and returning my phone. Had to reset / redownload everything. Then the problem just started again... so relieved I don't have to start over.

I just got a refurbed droid x and i was having issues with the first one.... like the keyboard would freeze up. On my refurbed, i could press a 'p' and an 'a,d,w' would popup.... or something randpm from the other sode of the qwerty.

Either way, i traced the problem to a crappy home phone charger (not the droid charger that came with it"

So i dont use that charger anymore and i havent had an issue (other than my fat thumbs) with selecting letters

sent from my droid x while driving.....thank you tapatalk for making this possible
