Droid Talk app

Is the Talk app on the Droid free or is it charged against my text messaging?
Is it going through Gmail?

Free...Goes though Gmail.....

It uses your data and is the same as logging into your gmail account from a computer and chatting with your contacts with the gtalk feature. Think of it as BB Messanger for us Droiders (even though BB's can use a Gtalk app as well).
