Droid on 4G?

And just how long does it take to be a "VIP"? I have been with them since the Cellular One days.

i was on it within the 1st contract i had with them.

dont quote me on this but i believe you need to be on a 79.99 minute plan or higher for a full contract(2 years) and then do a contract extension and not have any late payments during that 1st contract. Ive been told you can get on the VIP program within 6 months but dont know if theres any truth behind it.

you get all kinds of discounts. extra minutes added to your plan, we get an extra 500 minutes every month, 30% off accessories, free overnight shipping, New every 1 instead of new every 2 for 50 bucks.

i think you get 15% off your bill to but i get more then that through work(24%) so i get the higher percentage off.

i know theres more but my brain is failing me right now.

or you can just stay with verizon long enough in good standings to become a VIP with them and you can upgrade all your lines every year at the 2 year price.

Ive been a customer for over 10 years... I know I can update a few months before but not a whole years.. I'll have to check into that.

VIP--also no restocking fee if you return a phone (I wanted to be able to return the droid, as I did the Storm, within the 30 days with no fee).

I've been with Verizon/Airtouch/Qwest (?) for over 15 years--a fact I make a big deal out of when I need some help from verizon over a bill or that scam insurance company, Asurion.

I have 5 lines on my family plan--so, can upgrade anytime, really. But, I'm not paying for another data package if I hand my droid down to my college kid in order for me to upgrade to 4G when I want. I will wait until the new phone gets the kinks worked out, then upgrade, keep droid as a backup. I love that it will be able to take a SIM card so I can use it in Europe.

Hey, that means I need to plan a trip to Europe once I get the new 4G phone, right?

I went to a Verizon 4G LTE Demonstration in Pittsburgh on December 10.

No one would give an official launch date but the rumor mill with the Verizon reps was that they wanted to have it deployed in NFL cites by the fall of 2010. You can read into the reasons why.

The Droid will not be compatible but they would keep the CDMA network running for at least three years after LTE is deployed in an area.
