I try to send a text and I get a message that the "com.android.MMS" has stopped. any ideas on what to do? tnx

First thing to try is to reboot your device... On the Droid Maxx, holding the power button for the count of ten is supposed to be like a battery pull.. Power the device back up and try to send a text.. If that doesn't work.. Then I'd try going into settings, apps, all, now scroll down to messaging, now.... If you have texts that you want to try to save... Select clear cache, and then force stop..

If not, clear data and force stop the messaging app..

Then I'd try to send a text again..

I should ask., are you using the stock texting app?? Is the phone stock?

Try this and see if it helps.. Let us know..

I looked into your profile. Your device listed is a razr Maxx, not a Droid Maxx.. Two different animals..

For a razr Maxx, press and hold the volume down and power button at the same time and hold them until the phone shuts off... It will power itself back on..

I am using a stock MAXX and it is the stock messaging process that has stopped. It is not found under 'settings - apps' I did get hangouts to work, don't want to use it. When I hold the power button it powers down and back on automatically. I got the std messaging app to work with a simple message, will try sending a picture next. The simple text msg went thru, but I got a msg that the messaging app has stopped.

Hmmm. I would try clearing the cache on the phone.. If that doesn't help.. The quickest solution might be a factory data reset..

Have you installed any apps just before this started happening?
