Droid Maxx Dock

I can't believe they would make a car dock that does not have audio out. I was ready to purchase the Maxx but I will now stay with my Bionic or go with another phone that has a real car dock.
Thanks for the info!

They are probably thinking everyone has BT now.

I do have a BT connection but it doesn't compare to an actual wired connection, in my new Escape anyway.

Scratching my head and wondering why Moto veered away from the Razr Maxx Car dock. I too like the sound better of an audio jack vs. BT. And the beauty of the original Razr Maxx car dock with the audio/charging cable was that you didn't have to plug anything into the headphone jack. The audio came from the usb port.

I cut apart one of my old Droid Razr Maxx docks to see if my Droid Maxx would transmit audio through the old dock and USB/Audio Moto cable. It did not. It took a charge but did not transmit audio. This (possibly) means the phone was not designed with a audio through USB capability. I'm am 4 days past the point of no return at big red and I am sorely disappointed that Moto stopped making their own docks and cradles and proprietary cables. Hopefully someone can prove me wrong.

Wait, all my audio comes through the USB port and the cable is not proprietary, it's a micro usb to regular USB, that should be the standard in ALL phones as far as I'm concerned.

On the moto dock it is analog audio over the USB port to the special cable which splits off to a 3.5mm jack and USB charge only plug.

What you are doing is mounting your phones storage over USB and your head unit is playing your MP3s I assume.

Ouch, I love using my pro clip mount and a 17mm ball. I ordered a Maxx on swappa having looked at the griffin dock, ouch, I didn't know it was such a nightmare. The main reason I've been staying with motorola phones is because of the car dock; sort of regret getting the maxx now, but I'll probably look at getting a universal dock. LG WCP-300 looks simple enough. It looks like you can pair it with an LG wireless qi charger for wireless car charging. Just not sure if it works or not with the maxx.

The Griffin dock was/is junk. I am still hoping Moto makes a dock for this phone. It's the only thing about this phone that is disappointing to me. I still love this phone but it needs a great dock!

I ordered a TYLT Vu wireless charging dock and am absolutely loving it. The output is 1 amp, same as a standard USB charger, so it charges just as fast. Charges fine with my Diztronic TPU case on as well, and it saves the micro-USB port from wear and tear. The dock tilts up so I can see the display on my nightstand. In lieu of dock mode I have it set to enter Daydream mode using the Timely alarm app, which is beautiful. The TYLT Vu costs a bit more than the Griffin dock ($70) but I won't have to keep buying new docks each time I upgrade to a new phone, as long as they have Qi wireless support (which is becoming more and more common). All in all this is an excellent option and I highly recommend it!

I was all set to buy this until I read this http://www.tylt.com/pdfs/TYLT-VU-Compatibility.pdf
It won't work with my shell/holster. Same problem I have with the Griffin dock. :(

The availability of droid maxx accessories is terrible. Even seidio doesn't make a CONVERT case. Its pitiful.

Man, that TYLT is freakin expensive. $70 isn't a little more, it's nearly double.

They gotta drop that price if they want to sell those things.
