Droid Incredible -- "Void?"

After waiting a month for my incredible to finally ship and get to me, when I charge it up I notice the charger is acting a little weird - only letting me charge in certain positions. It didn't charge the whole night even though when I went to bed it said it was charging, it stopped somehow, so I was charging it in the morning (it was at about 44% I think) and then all of a sudden it turned off, and won't turn back on again OR charge at all. Took it into the Verizon store and they said they couldn't do anything I would have to call customer service because I ordered online and have them ship out a new one and send back the "incredible" piece of crap they gave me. They said it could take another month to ship it -- YES, I'M INFURIATED:icon_evil:!

Anyway, my question is that I noticed that on the back of the phone there are 4 screws in each corner. However, in the bottom left corner it appears to be a sticker over the screw that says "VOID." What does this mean? Is it anything at all? Did HTC/Verizon KNOW they were sending me a dud in order to get more time due to the high volume and shortage of the product? Also, should I call back customer service and ask for some kind of discount on something for all of the inconvenience and stress this has caused? Maybe they could give me a discount on my next bill, or take give me some of my money back for the phone, I don't know, just something, because this is ridiculous, ESPECIALLY if this was done on purpose! Any insight or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Your verizon store is bull puky, because I got mine online, it came defective, and got a free replacement in the store the next day.

The sticker over the screw is for the warranty. So if you break that sticker and take apart your phone the warranty is void and they can prove it.

And arn't the stores still in demand for the phone? So i dunno how getting one from a store would work. Dude there musta just gotten lucky and walked in on a day they got em in or something.

100% agreed. I believe (sorry to say) you are screwed. There's no other way to put it man, your warranty is void.

I was assuming the sticker was broke. If it isn't you are entitled to a replacement under warranty. Sorry, I may be wrong and the seal is not broken.

Like others said the sticker is there to void your warranty if you open the phone. There is no VZW plot to send you a bunk phone. Make sure you are trying a VZW corporate store and not an authorized reseller location.

Wondering what is the difference? I know there is a main store around my area, and many other stores. I did not go to the main store. Should I call the main store?

To the OP, Call 611.... You'll have your replacement quicker.

Any reason why that is? I called customer service and they are supposed to send me out a new one (she said it should take less time to ship it out then originally, but I mean, originally it took a month). If they can send one out faster do I have to cancel the other one?

Call *611 and tell them the issue and what the local store said. Cut out the middle man. They'll ship a replacement and have you ship yours to them if the seal is intact. They will overnight it too.

That is the same help line that the store gave me to call (although they gave me an 800 number but it sounds like the same thing). I called them yesterday when I was leaving the store and they said they didn't know when it would be shipped, they couldn't tell me a date but said it would be sooner then it took the first time. They also offered to switch to a Droid X and I asked which would ship sooner and she said there was no way to tell. I just tried to call that number and the computer lady says that I have an order waiting to be activated and if it has been received to press 1 blah blah blah.

I just called 611 and talked to someone. She said that the order was placed and that it is showing up August 3rd is the approx shipping date. So no, they aren't over nighting it =-[. I asked her how long the Droid X would take to ship because they offered me that phone instead, and she said it's right around the same date...and being a girl with small hands I like the incredible better because it is easier to hold and use so I didn't switch it. Too bad though, HTC will not get my business after this phone.

Too bad, sorry for the misinformation. I wasn't thinking about the stock and it being a new model. I feel your pain. Waiting sucks!
