Will this work on the Evo that has the ota froyo?

I don't think so. From what I read the phone has to have a custom recovery image on it.

If you have a custom recovery image then you should be able to no problem.

I was chatting with one of the creators of the tool last night and he had mention how they were able to flash some EVOs this week without issue. I would check this thread for more info. I didn't read completely through it but I'm sure someone asked the same question at some point.
