Droid file repository

I've this idea: whenever I want a droid file - an SBF or what ever - I often am pointed to a link on a free upload site. Why isn't there a central site just for droid files? It would be easy enough to do, so why hasn't it been done? Would Moto or VZW have it shut down? I am contemplating setting this up. Thoughts?

I'm guessing nobody wants to pay for bandwidth is the reason.

I would not link files... just the site... I would have to check the TOS first I gather.

It would seem so much easier than looking all over for files on megaupload and the like.

I would even be able to give individual authors of software access to upload their files and control them. (I think)

Hmmm.... Well, I am going to give this a try and see what happens.

I am only familiar with iPhone, X, and Global. I am going to start to gather files and put a site together. It is fairly ridiculous using these mega upload sites. There are all sorts of iPhone repositories. They call them "repos". Why not for droid??
