Thanks Mike
I heard that some people in Taiwan got replacement of the NEW camera button of their Droid (milestone) for free. Will the Droid got the same replacement?
I've had it for nearly 4 months now and it looks exactly the same. Something tells me I may have just jinxed myself but for the time being, are those of you experiencing this problem frequently using the button? I've used it a number of times.
...And no, the button is not a big deal, it's simply an aesthetic thing. A Droid should carry itself with pride, it's too smart to simply ignore its own defects and owner's neglect and will eventually initialize stealth installed application com.google.android.punish which includes underclocking the cpu further only when you're using it, uninstalling applications without notification, and locking in the brightness to limit visibility.
I can understanding trying to touch it up with something but to make it a warranty issue seems like a whole lot of work for a functional camera button.
I'm not sure what action, if any, VZW has in place for this particular issue. I think a call to customer service or a visit to a VZW store is a good place to get the facts.
This is just my opinion, but if the camera button is functional, I would not want to make it a warranty issue. You'll get a refurbished unit with who knows what other issues; then you'll wish the biggest problem you had was a black camera key. LoL
Frankly, I had to go get my phone to make sure I knew what you guys were talking about. I barely noticed the color. I know, I know, how can you not know what color the camera button is? Maybe cuz I rarely use it. I use the virtual button about 99% of the time, just like I now use the virtual keyboard 99.9999% of the time. This is a 180° from when I first got the phone, of course.
This looks to be a pretty teeny tiny repair job and I don't think I'd want my run-of-the-mill Verizon store employee swapping this out anyway.
This isn't a warranty issue. It's cosmetic and cosmetic issues aren't covered.
This is at least the third thread on this topic.
My cousin and I got our droids the same day. My camera button is practically all white now and his is still gold. His is also more sunken in. not sure if it's always been that way...
I'm so used to it now that I don't really care as long as it functions, but kinda lame.
Tsh, pop it out, prop it, hit it with a shot of adhesive spraypaint, then hit it with a shot of gold Krylon Fusion, then a shot of Krylon Fusion clearcoat. Done.
