Depends on the bootloader for me. If it's locked then there's a good chance I'll look elsewhere. I'll also be watching which LTE phones the dev's are picking up.

root is possible, sometimes. but custom ROMs are not

ALL boot loaders are going to be locked down from now on. There's no reason for them not to.

root is possible, sometimes. but custom ROMs are not

I believe they can still make custom ROMs for devices with locked boot loader using something called "side loading"

Call me crazy -- I am definitely making the switch over to the Bionic. I like my D1, but it runs a bit slow at times -- I even have envy over my wifes X, so I know dual core processor will beef it up to where I need it - dual camera and all that have me convinced...

That will satisfy me... for at least 6 months.

Its a nice phone but I either want to learn to make my own custom roms with it or be able to use project gimp source

hahaha ya well i'm gonna be rocking the D1 till i get an upgrade threw verizon. and then even might be longer. the wife is gonna get an iPhail soon as i am working again and i will have 2 D1's at my ready needs. im still surprised i havent completely bricked mine yet... oh how i love SBF's
