Seems the Source Code for the Motorola Droid Bionic has been released, this does not mean that there are any intentions of unlocking the bootloader as of yet but it is a step in the right direction and something to play with in the meantime .

By the time it's unlocked the next revolutionary flagship 2yr phone will have everyone moving on.

Too little, too late I think.

Not to sound like a stupid question, but the Bionic has been rooted/hacked since day one, so what will the unlocked bootloader provide? Roms? Themes? ...just wondering.

Custome kernels and open a new way to maximum modding

I don't know if you have run across this or not, but if you have any issues while in the bootstrap recovery you have to SBF back to stock. It is a huge PITA to start over from scratch, let it boot, log in, get the bootstrap app and then try to restore a backup. As opposed to being able to boot straight into recovery to restore a backup after a bad flash. If you try to boot into recovery when the phone is off it will take you to the stock recovery.

oh and of course custom kernels to overclock this dual core 1GHz to go knows what it will handle.

this is very much a step in the right direction, can't wait to see what the devs come up w/ for custom roms now that they will have the full source code.
