Droid apps

How do I delete the icon? Someone told me to push on it so I could drag it down and a trash can would appear, but I have tried that and it won't go away.
Icons on the homescreen....

to delete.... long press on the icon, then drag it to the app drawer, hold over it for a second til the trash can appears (and turns red) and let go. Voila :)
Is the homescreen considered only to be the first screen that the phone opens to? or does it include the 2 other screens that you pull to open up? I haven't been able yet to remove icons or move any to the first main screen - but I am trying!

No, it is all of your screens. To add icons, open your app tray press, hold and drag then drop onto the home screen. You can only add 16 icons per screen...There are replacement home adds that will increase the number of screens that you (up to 7) and they also allow additional customization options...

New question-re emails- How do I save them? There is no menu option in gmail or aol on phone that I could find to save the email somewhere so I could deal with it later on my computer. I have folders set up to save emails and I don't know how to save emails now. Thanks! And when I do delete them, they are still online in my computer when I go to the server there. How do I make that not happen? I just read on one of these replies (somewhere, I am kind of lost now) that if you set the server different, it will get rid of them, but I don't have the settings it referred to.

Not from the g-mail app. If you go to gmail on your Droid's browser then you can delete forever.
