droid and wifi tether

Okay I have serched and maybe just didn't find anything so here I go. I have noticed I have a rooted droid and use the wifi tether all the time on my laptop,iPod touch etc, all work great but why is it that I cannot get another droid device to even see my phone to connect to it? I have tried with my buddies galaxy s, and an incediable turn on there wifi and go to settings and my phone wont show up.
