My wife has a Droid 3 with Verizon, and we are going to Thailand next month. The phone comes with a Verizon/Vodafone SIM card, but it sounds like in order to use it internationally, you have to go through Verizon as your intermediary ($75 for 150MB and $20 per MB thereafter!! Also $2 per minute on calls, $0.50 per text sent and $0.25 per text received).
Is it possible to buy a SIM card in Thailand, or online before we leave, that will give the phone access to a local voice and data network without Verizon as the overcompensated broker? Thanks in advance!
