Local SIM for UAE / Abu Dhabi / Dubai

Hi everyone,

I have a Razr Maxx HD and will be working in Abu Dhabi for three weeks starting July 23rd. I called Verizon and I'm faced with a pay-as-you-go plan of $20 PER MB (!!!), 50 cents per sent text, calls at something like $2.50 a minute. Totally outrageous. In UAE they do not have a typical global plan like you can get when traveling to the UK.

Has anyone recently been to Abu Dhabi or Dubai, installed a local micro-SIM and got voice and data to work?

Looking for other options besides relying on WiFi only.

All i did was buy one from a local merchant. They set it up for me for free. Or you can do it yourself. I would get a apn switcher from the market.
