I got the holster/case combo and really like it. Here is a pic.

I noticed that with all the cases I bought for my original droid the front slider part of the case broke very easily. I had a cheap one when I first got the phone that lasted a little bit till the clips holding to the front of the phone broke off. Then I bought an otterbox thinking that if I paid more money for a nice case it wouldn't happen again. Wrong. Same problem. Then I noticed the Seidio innocase with dock. Bought that, still use the dock but same problem. So for a while until I got the D3 I went caseless. Although the Seidio did last me the longest I would like to know if anyone has had similar problems or finds a case that not only looks good but fits nicely in my hand and pocket. Oh and if it doesn't break every 2 months that would be nice.

The universal holster sold in the Verizon store near me worked fine. The store did not have any of the holster/shell combos in stock.

They could order it for me with 2 day delivery. Tried universal leather holster in store and the Droid 3 fits fine.

how do you put the phone in the holster? Right side up or upside down? My husband suggested upside down cause it fits more snugly/tightly but it just seems awkward to me and a little difficult to draw. How did you put yours in?

nevermind... I figured it out. I had put the case shell upside down (blush) good to go now.

By the way. So far I like the shell/holster combo sold by verizon. Seems pretty solid. Excellent fit. And the kick stand is pretty neat. I havent clipped it on my pants yet. I'm still wearing maternity clothes and can't use holsters for the time being. My husband bought one too for his D3 so once he's worn it i'll atleast give you his take on it.

we went to the corporate store today and went to accessories section of the store and they did not have any accessories out on the floor for the D3. We had to ask a sales person, who went to the back to retrieve what they had available for the D3. I just think its odd that 1) they don't have the phone itself on the floor and 2) they don't have it's accessories on the floor either. I wonder.. Why is that? It's like you have to be a member of a secret society/club to get access.

It's because they did a soft launch with the Droid 3, just like they did with the Droid 2 last year. They haven't been advertising or pushing it very much yet because they're still trying to move the stock of the Droid 2 Global that they have left. So some stores will have it on display and some won't. Depends on what they have in stock.

I really didnt notice but I guess now that I think of it. I guess there wasnt. Only reason why I knew bout the D2 was because the sales manager mentioned it. Said they would be out in a week and so I waited. Got the droid 2 the day it came out in Aug '10. My 1st Android phone :-)

A question, please - I just moved from a BB, whose leather case has a magnet that does something to the phone to conserve battery life (do you like my technical knowledge ...).

My wife uses hers and got 2x the BB battery life I did without the case (we are basically phone and email users - not heavy Internet users).

Do any of the Droid 3 cases have a similar feature to conserve battery life (which on my Droid 3 is terrible - 1.5 - 2.0 hours)?

Thanks.

What have you configured to make your phone only get 1.5 - 2.0 hours? I take my Droid 3 off the charger at 6:30am and it goes back on around 10:30-11:00pm. Normal use, phone, text, massive # of emails, app downloads, etc.. (GPS on, SYNC on, Auto Brightness, WiFi on 70% of the time).

Being new to Android (since you mentioned coming from Blackberry) you may need to start reading a lot of the forum sections here just pertaining to Android in general. That's insanely bad battery time.

I agree with the insanely bad battery time - but have been reading/posting on the Battery Life thread and many have the same issue.

I won't start using this thread for battery stuff - but briefly, I use an app killer, have WiFi off, and the phone can sit idle with no calls, data, Internet - but fetching emails (no social syncs or anything like that) - and still dead in 2.0 hours. I have only had it since last Friday.

I agree, I'll start looking at the battery thread and posting there. First thing though....get rid of the app killer. BAD BAD BAD BAD. Google has put out documents, devs have repeatedly said it.....do NOT run app/task killers on Android devices.

Two hours of battery life definitely means there's something wrong with either the phone or the battery. Even listening to music plus watching streaming video with max brightness shouldn't kill the phone in that amount of time.
