Droid 2 Slide-out Keyboard Inputting Characters Twice

I have recently been experiencing a very annoying bug. Sometimes, while using the slide-out physical keyboard, certain characters will get entered twice, even though I only push the button once. For example, when typing in 'what', it usually comes out as 'whhat' or 'whaat'.

I have seen this in SMS, and when using the browser. It doesn't happen every time, or with every key. The most common keys that does this is A, H, G, T, and L. I first noticed this happening about a week and a half ago.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, and can anyone provide some insight?

My solution to this - pull the battery.

Then, using fairly moderate pressure, run your thumb over each row of keys about 10 times. Then, insert the battery, and repeat the thumb-running process another 10 times or so.

Happy Keyboarding.
