Hi,

I have been getting some help from the guys over at xda and also been following this thread for help. I have a droid 2 that I bought and it boots to the boot loader only. It will go into recovery as well. This is how the phone was advertised when I bought it. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding how to reload the sbf from all the great info here and at the other forum. I have tried loading the 2.3.20 sbf on 2 different windows machines and also linux. In some cases it would appear to be successful at the end of the flash process but the phone boots back to the BL everytime. The guy helping me at xda says he is stumped now. So here I am seeking help here. I dont know if its OK to post links to the 2 threads over there to save repeating the efforts or not; its not too much to look over. One final note is this phone shows no ESN/MEID in RSD lite but has the decal in the batt compartment for it and valid with VZW.

Thank you in advance
Did you try clearing data/cache?

Hold the X key on the keyboard and turn the power back on, keep holding down the X key until you see a yellow triangle icon

Now close the slider and hold down the Volume Up button, then press the Camera button while still holding volume up

A menu will appear and one of the choices will be "wipe data/factory reset" -- use the direction pad on they keyboard to select this option

Scroll down using the direction pad to the "yes" option and select it with the d-pad select key

Yes I have tried this many times during the many flashes, thank you for the help anyway

Now that mine is "up" and running again, RSDLite identifies the phone correctly as an A955 and is correctly identifying the ESN, but it wasn't until I was running that the identification was correct.

Even with my now working phone, when I'm in the bootloader RSDLite doesn't identify my phone correctly as the A955 and it doesn't read my ESN.
I didn't dare trying an additional SBF yet to see if it actually works, but hopefully I've provided some information that might help.

jasnmar glad to see you got it fixed, can you write up what you did because someone else had the exact same issue and I think you getting through it can help.

you should have rsdlite 4.8, motorola's drivers, and full sbf 2.3.20. if you have a droid 2 if you have a droid x then you are in the wrong thread.

hi pc747

No we are working on a droid 2 here. I started out with rsd lite 4.7 now I am using 4.8. I have numerous copies of the sbf full and system only versions of 2.3.20.

Lol I know my profile says I have a droid x which is my personal phone which I am tweaking now that I've put liberty 1.5 on it. I am getting it setup before I reactivate it. I bought a droid incredible and put a screen in it which I am on right now for my wife. She dont like it so I bought the droid 2 for her which needed a touch screen which has been taken care of. I'm hoping the droid 2 will keep her happy and not wanting the VZW iphone because she likes slider phones & I am out of contract and want to stay that way.

I will take a look at the link you gave me thank you again. Edit I see that was for the DX

After following the instructions posted at Trouble flashing with RSD lite in Vista/Windows 7 - Mobile Modding.us the 3rd time, the flashing of the SBF seems to have succeeded. Looking at the "touch me" android screen.

Thanks all.

With regards to this problem check out this link (POST 32)... If you get "Failed Flashing process. (0x7100)" in RSD Lite - Android Forums

I had this problem too where RSD didnt recognize the sbf file, you might find it interesting for reference

Ok I tried using the CMD prompt as per that thread. It does the same exact thing as when normally flashing in windows. I get...

"Failed flash process-phone(0000)error switching phone to BP passthrhough mode (0x70BE)-phone disconnected-executed 100% - Fail"

at this point the phone display still appears the flash is underway indefinately.

That's usually caused by the USB port or the USB Host Controller. You'll probably end up needing to use a different computer or boot a Linux live CD and run a program called SBF_Flash.

After this its still stuck on the BL and I tried wipe in recovery. Note it identifies my D2 as a DX

I am re-running rsd lite on yet another PC to tell you what it does.

Ok to be clear the 1st time I got this error...

"Failed flash process-phone(0000)error switching phone to BP passthrhough mode (0x70BE)-phone disconnected-executed 100% - Fail"

This was a Vista machine using RSD 4.7

I just ran it again on a different machine (Win 7) using RSD 4.8, same exact result

"Failed flash process-phone(0000)error switching phone to BP passthrhough mode (0x70BE)-phone disconnected-executed 100% - Fail"

By the way if I try flashing the 2.3.20(system only) sbf it completes successfully on the later machine running RSD 4.8 but still stuck on the BL screen and wipe all in recovery no work.
