Verizon just announced that the Droid 2 Global will be getting Gingerbread, and you can go download it now. The instructions and links for getting it are at the Verizon source link below. The update also includes some new UI enhancements for the device, including a customizable dock. There are also a few more tweaks:
  • Download Manager App
  • User-definable App Groups
  • Encryption for data both on the device and its SD card,
  • Improvements in battery life while using WiFi and Bluetooth

It really looks like they put some effort into this update, and they really improved this already excellent phone.

Still no update

Mine still no update needed. Both techs I spoke with at Verizon wireless today claimed to know nothing about it even when I pointed out the upgrade instructions on their website.

Someone said it might take 2-3 weeks to roll out the update completely...:icon_evil:
Probably won't move up here anyways until its rooted, or I find a way to do a system dump of it. (For CM7 dev on D2G)
