Droid 1 year phone upgrade

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but I just got back from Best Buy, where the dude there rang up a droid (and canceled it, he wouldnt sell to me!) with a 1 year contract renewal (not eligible for 2 year yet) and it cost 300$.

I fully expected to pay 600$ for my droid, not realizing that a contract renewal after 1 year would still cut the price in half.

This is pretty common knowledge, I thought. It is "annual upgrade" in verizon talk and any account with a voice line over 39.99 is eligible at 10 months for the 2 year price with a 2 year contract. at 20 months you qualify for NE2.

I didn't realize that BB was able to do this though, which is better news than I thought.

The only retail chain not afraid of breaking street date is walmart. They are so big and huge that manufacturers don't dare piss them off for fear that they remove their items off their shelves
