It looks like the new Google keyboard from Android N Developer Preview 3 can actually be downloaded and installed to your device without actually having to install the Dev Preview! Not only do we get Emoji color options the new keyboard also apparently includes some new themes! Not only do you get some cool new background colors for your keyboard, but there is now an option to add your own keyboard background image! Grab the new Google Keyboard from the download link below.

OK, so how do I enable it? I'm lost here.

It came pre-installed on our Turbo 2's FoxKat, unless you replaced it with a different keyboard.

Disregard that post Fox. I thought you were asking about the basic Google Keyboard, now I see this is about the new Dev preview. Should be right where Mustang said to look.

The APK is safe right? I always reluctant sideloading app from unknown source [emoji11]

The link is direct download/mediafire without mentioning the source.

TIA

Perhaps it's the learning my habits factor but with the newest update my gesture typing and suggestions have gone just wrong. Yesterday it was scary accurate but today it's frustratingly inaccurate.

I went to load it, but file had "Latin" within its name. I don't want to download a Latin keyboard

Forgive my ignorance if I'm wrong.

You'd think after bring an OG Droid 'er I'd know the right thing to do by now

Works great on the note 4

Anyone know how to set up the dedicated number row? The picture above links to a 2014 how-to, with what looks like outdated instructions.

I'm wondering that also....

the dedicated number row seems to be a "smart" feature, only showing up when you're most likely (according to Google) use numbers.

Try tapping in a password box on a site/app, it should show up. I haven't fully figured out WHEN it shows up, but it definitely does, just not constantly. I kind of like that it's not ALWAYS there, as I've been using this keyboard since long before they offered a dedicated number row, but it is also very handy when the need for it arises.
