does the screen use not battery or does everything else use a ton?

i know its common knowledge that the incredible has terrible battery life, but i'm confused because the display uses like 8% of my battery. on my moto droid 1 it was always around 35%-50% of my usage.
so is this screen really efficient? or does everything else just use a TON of battery?
