Does the lack of Hands Free operation bother anyone?

.....

Does the Blue Ant Q1 solve the problem with the droid or does it solve something with the Droid when using the Voice App discussed earlier?

Thanks

...........

My research indicates that the Blue Ant Q1 or V1 solves this issue. I'll explain why.

The technology of the Blue Ant is such so that it actually has the capacity to speak to you, not the phone. Therefore when you press the button and hear "Say a command" it's the headset talking. It then finds the contact on your list and the phone calls it.

What you may have confused it with was the alternative solution which is an app that you can purchase in the market. In any case I'll get back with everyone once I receive mine which may be as early as the 16th.

Do you know if the Blue Ant, S1, or the Supertooth 3 or Light act the same for voice apps?

Don't like stuff in my ear.....

Doesn't bother me. The only time I need hands free is in the car and that has a built-in BT system.

I've had my Droid since late November. Coming from the BB world, I, too, was underwhelmed by the fact it didn't have BT dialing. Surely, they would know that was a high priority and would release it in 2.0. Silly me.

As someone else said, if it isn't important to you, you haven't used it seriously. I have a Blueant V1 and it DOES NOT WORK with the Droid. It goes to static when answering a call. Blueant support sucks. Their response to me was "Well, it works with other phones so it is obviously a Motorola problem." Lame, IMO.

I'm on the hunt for a BT headset that works well, even w/o voice dial.

C'mon Google, get with the rest of the wireless world and get this working.

I agree with the original post (OP). When I saw the spec sheet for the Droid it said voice activated BT but not via the headset. Again, it is always what they do not say that counts. For me it is a critical need and not just for convenience. Legal liability (traffic citations) and driving safety (insurance and accidents) are very important to me. Therefore, not having this capability is serious. Since hands free voice activated BT headset capability had been available for so long in so many cell phones, I just assumed it was part of the Android OS. It certainly should be.

I don't know if you read the entire thread, and i agree with you 100% that it should be a non issue, however there are two solutions offered. Voice Dialer HF from the app store, and also you can get the Blue Ant Q1 headset.

Now Blue Ant Q1 is limited to only 8 contacts, so it may not suite your needs. I just want to make sure there are options out there.

True handsfree using a wired headset is a huge issue for me!!! I'm a plumbing contractor, fly fishing fanatic, and music lover.I'm usually in or on the water and in a place or situation not suited for removing m phone from my pocket & case! I want to be able to place calls, use call waiting, ,and control my music with my wired headset with my phone still in my pocket! I've tried all the market apps and found them unrealiable over time. When I got my A855 last April and brought this to their attention I was told to be patient, it would be fixed soon with an update. Still waiting but not patiently anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!
