Does it bother you your mom might want a droid too

Hehe! This thread's a riot. My twenty-something kids are locked into BB's for the next year and are jealous of Dad's new toy.

Thats great all :) love the stories!

I"m a 48 year old mom of 2 young men, and it's ME who has all the cool new tech stuff, not them! Wanna know why? Because I'm the one who can afford it :icon_ devil:

They of course want a Droid...but when they can't even feed their own cats...come on....are you kidding??

My Mother

My mother carries a :blackberry:. She can barely get it to work the way she wants it to. My sister and Brother in law carry a :blackberry: also. when they saw my :motdroidvert: over Thanksgiving. They were like holy ****! My GF just got her :motdroidvert: yesterday. Me I'm always on the cutting edge. I am sure over a little time my family will convert to the Droid army. After all they followed me to :blackberry: too :icon_ devil:

I converted my daughter and her fiance to Blackberry Tour's a few months ago after they carried dumbphones their entire existence. Then I just recently jumped to the Droid and now they're angry with dear old dad (and father in law). I said just think what the phones will be like when they're eligible in 2 years.

Pushing 60, Mom of two almost 30 somethings, got a Droid - enjoying it - lots of age appropriate apps out there - I shop, need directions, play a game or two, surf the net, get and send text messages, enjoy music, just like the younger folks do. It's a multigenerational tool. it's strength is in ultimate customization. Make it yours....

I am a mom and my husband and I both got Droids before the boys did! Now one owns one and the other bought the Eris because he couldn't possibly have the same phone as his parents! What a horror!

I'm 57 and I had a Blackberry Storm 1 and 2 prior to returning my Storm for the Droid. I was never into smart phones until one day I wanted to surf the internet for something and saw just how poorly a non smart phone was at doing it. I only knew Blackberry and iPhone and since I was on Verizon iPhone wasn't an option.

I got obsessed with my Storm despite it's short comings and would have been happy to stay in my little Blackberry world had Verizon been a little quicker getting to me when I went to exchange my second Storm 2. That gave me some time to play with the Droid. I was sold in 15 minutes.

My wife who is 42 has a Blackberry Curve. She is a manager for a IT department and she doesn't have a clue nor does she care about what her phone can (or mostly can't) do. Funny that she knows so much more about IT then I do but when it comes to the phones she's clueless.

This is great people love seeing droid bring all ages together seeing that I am 15 and this phone is so revolutionary, my mom was sketchy about gettig the dataplan for me eventhough I paid for the phone so I have to do more chores but for me to get it I had to say "I Want a Droid" 100,000 times before school ended haha.

If my mom was alive, it would be a blast if she got a droid.

However my friend's mom... I don't think she could manage a Jitterbug phone let alone a smartphone of ANY kind. The mom's brother and friend both bought iTouch a few weeks ago and bombarded ME with whining and confusion how to get it to charge and if they REALLLLLY needed iTunes blah blah.. I thought "really? why did you even buy these things?" So gods help me if THEY were to get droids... I'd be scarce.

Consider yourself lucky... even after 100,000 interations there is not a shot in the world I would be buying my 15 year old (not that she is 15 yet thank goodness) a Droid.

I'm seeing so many young people in their teens with Droids, Blackberry's. I'm not a parent but if I were there would be no way I would allow a teenager to own any smart phone. I would worry about unsupervised internet access.

I imagine there are youngsters who could properly use this phone but IMHO it's not a great idea. Nothing personal to any teens out there, I know you are confident that you can handle this phone and I probably sound like an old fart. Just stating my opinion. YMMV
