The title is my question. When my battery indicator says 90% does it mean that is less than 100% but more than 90%?

If so, why or how can I get it show accurate info about my battery in greater increments. Maybe increments of 5 or better 1, like the G1.

Yes, 90% would be less than 100%. The stock indicator only goes in 10% increments, so 90% could mean it's anywhere between 90%-99%. I believe BatteryLeft allows for 1% increments.

could be the other way. 90% means between 81 and 90%...who knows for sure?

It's 81-90%, otherwise, your phone would drop to 90% minutes after being unplugged from a full charge and this is not the case.

I can also confirm via battery widget.

Not sure about the Droid, but on the Omnia, if you had it set to 10% increments, 90 represented 85-95, just a thought. My Droid drops to 90 after about 40 minutes, but then last 1.5 hours before going to 80, which lends some credibility to the above.

Ahhhh, this is a possibility.

I wonder how this app gets exact percentages? Check this out if you haven't before

Edit: Looks like it used to count down by 1's but may now be at 10's.

The actual reading is just an estimate. The voltage of a battery under heavy load tends to be lower than when at rest, so you could get different readings in various situations as well.

Point being, it's not an exact reading. Get BatteryLeft if you want more precise readings.
