Like the tittle says. Running adrynalyne 4.3a. I used setcpu to enable the smartass gov. Do I need to keep setcpu or can it be removed and retain the gov settings. Also was it needed in the first place or will the kernal default to smartass gov?

The kernel probably defaults to on demand with one max clock speed (usually close to the stock 1 ghz). This is a failsafe feature. You need to keep SetCPU for it to run any thing else.

However, with a smartass governor you do not need to monkey with the setcpu profiles; the governor will manage power very well.

Remember, don't select "set on boot" with setcpu until you've run the phone at your preferred speed for a while and made sure it's stable.

[EDIT]: Just realized I think I'm running the same kernel as you. It does default to on demand around 1000 mhz. You need to keep setcpu. Mine is stable maxed at 1.8 ghz, but YMMV
