Do i need advanced memory optimizer and such apps on gingerbread?

Hi,

I heard that GB has improved apps and memory management so I am wondering if I still need autokiller memory optimizer by andrs and such apps? I am getting worse battery life than froyo. way worse.

Also, do all the advanced system tweaks in the app improve battery? So improved performance but is it at the cost of battery?

Autokillers only work if you have a poorly written app which is still running when it isn't displayed. Here's how to check if you have any bad apps.

1. Uninstall any auto killers, task managers, etc.
2. Use your phone normally until the battery gets low
3. Check which app has been using the battery by pressing Menu from the home screen then selecting battery manager then touching the battery image.It is normal for Display and cell standby to be at the top of the list. Anything else high on the list is suspect especially if you didn;t run the app much or didn't run it at all.
4. Get rid of the bad apps, set them to one star in the market, and leave a negative comment so maybe the author will get the hint.
