DIY car dock

Found this on Lifehacker. I'm going to start working on this for my Xterra when I get back from my vacation:

I'm also planning on constructing my own car dock.

I will be using a the windshield mount from my old Sirius satellite radio set up. (I'm no longer a satellite radio subscriber.)

My plan is to do the following:
- find a pouch type case for a Treo or other LARGER smartphone or GPS unit.
- modify the case so I can simply slide my Droid into it. (...the case can't be a Droid case, it needs to be larger because my Droid already has a hard case on it, and I don't want to remove it)
- cut out the side of the case just enough so the Droid's screen is completely visible when inserted into it.
- mount that case to the satellite radio mount and finally...
- test that baby out!

I'll post a new thread up to document the dock build when I get around to it. :tongue:
