Display - Half of screen gone

I have a launch Droid X and was just driving down the road yesterday and all of a sudden, this happened...

I have never dropped this thing and it's always worked great.

Looks like it's a known issue ( Verizon confirms Droid X screen issues, but says they're not widespread -- Engadget )

The question I have is, do you think Verizon would give me a replacement? I bought this phone off a friend and it has worked great for about a month. Or should I go the Motorola repair route?

Anyone have any experience with the display like this?

Update: I submitted a question to Motorola and they said to send it to them for repair. 5 days turnaround according to the RMA request.

I sent the phone out yesterday to their repair place in Texas. I will try to keep this thread updated just in case other people have the same problem.
